Both fighters look to rebound from losses in their most recent fights. Menjivar, who fought one time in the UFC nearly seven years ago when he lost a decision to Matt Serra at UFC 48, was brought into the WEC for the final event in that organization's history. However, he lost a decision to Brad "One Punch" Pickett in an exciting fight on the preliminary card.
Valencia had a three fight win streak snapped in September, as he lost by submission to former Bantamweight Champion Miguel Torres. He compiled a 5-4 record in nine appearances in the WEC, and this will be his UFC debut.
UFC 129 will be the UFC's first event in the city of Toronto, headlined by a Welterweight Championship bout between Georges St. Pierre and Jake Shields.

Penick's Analysis: This is a solid preliminary card fight for this card. Menjivar likely needs a win to keep his roster spot, as he's just 1-3 over his last four fights, but Valencia likely will get more leeway should he suffer a loss. Still, for a preliminary card fight, this should be an exciting scrap in the 135 lb. division.
